DAYBOOK

For Today...May 8, 2015
Outside my window...it is 48° and sprinkling and the sun is hiding behind the clouds.  The lilacs are all but gone.
I am thinking...I really need to get dressed and ready for the day since I am not running this morning due to an injury.
I am thankful...for uplifting quotes and articles that inspire me to be better.
I am wearing...leopard silky pajama bottoms and a purple Nike shirt that says, "As long as your sweating, you're still alive".
I am creating...a new blog post to publish this weekend sometime.
I am going...to enjoy this rainy spring day and just soak in the wonderful storminess of it all.
I am wondering...if it is going to rain for my marathon next week.  I am praying so hard I won't have to run another 26.2 miles in a downpour.  That was hard and I am not sure I am up to it this time.
I am reading...a cute new children's book my friend Diane gave me yesterday called, "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?"  by Carol McCloud.
I love children's books!  They are so inspiring!
I am hoping...hoping beyond hope that my Plantar Faciitis will hit the road before next Saturday (marathon day) or I'm not sure if I can finish!  I have been training for this race HARD for four months and now I have this to deal with!  It is so painful!
I am learning...that I have no control over most things in life and so I might as well just go with them.  Not putting up a fight makes it easier.
In my garden...things are starting to grow and others are being planted.  I am trying to get my porch pots planted too.
In my kitchen...I will be making some Amish Bread this weekend because my starter will be on day 10.
A favorite quote for today...
A peek into one of my days...tomorrow I am going to run a 5K with my son Taylor (praying my Plantar allows me to!) and then the fam has to go clean up the yard at Dave's parents.  Then I am taking McKay shopping for his missionary suits, shoes, and a HUGE list of things for his mission.  Then Dave and I have a wedding reception to go to and then we are going out to dinner with some friends (Pres. Shepherd and his wife Katie) to hear a little more about Russia because Pres. Shepherd served his mission in Russia years ago.
One of my favorite things...spring rainstorms!  It could rain everyday in spring and I would be totally okay with it!

For Today...March 27, 2015
Outside my window... the sun is shining brightly and it's 41°.
I am thinking...I wish I felt better today.  I hope I can get everything done I need to today!
I am thankful...for my health - even more so today because I'm not feeling well.
I am wearing...my purple PJ's.  In my defense it's still early and I'm not running today!
I am creating... this blog post!  That's about it for right now!  hah
I am going...to get feeling better before my big race tomorrow!  I was up all night with a stinkin' cold!  At first I thought it was allergies, but now I'm pretty sure my husband shared his cold with me. How nice of him!
I am wondering...how cold it will be at the race start tomorrow and what I should wear since it's always colder at the start, but by the end it's much warmer.  I've never ran a half marathon in March before.  And this March the weather has been warmer than usual, but it will still be cold up where the race is in the mountains.
I am reading...Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmadge.  I'm going to be reading it for a while because it is very thick and very deep!  Thankfully I am in a study group to help me understand it.

I am hoping...that I do well on my race (half marathon) tomorrow.  It's my first race of the year and season and I have been training really hard and I hope that will show.
I am learning...that time moves swiftly and I need to get moving or I'm not going to get everything done I need to.  Blogging takes time!
In my garden...it's really my hub's garden but I usually help him plant it.  He has planted some things already and I am excited to get the rest going.  I LOVE fresh produce straight from the garden!
In my kitchen...I am going to make Almond Poppy Seed bread today for my boys and hub to take with them fishing, if I get feeling better that is!
A favorite quote for today...
 Nothing could be more true!

A peek into one of my days...today I am not running because I need fresh legs for my race tomorrow but I am going into Ogden to visit my friend Mona who just had hip surgery and is now in a rehab center.  I also have to pick up my race packet in Ogden today and I will probably do a little shopping while there.  My hub and boys are going fishing and I am going to see the play at the Jr. High with my hub's counselor's wife because her daughter is in it and I was in it when I was in high school and so I am excited!  I will have to try and carb load before that.  I hope to get to bed at a decent time, but that doesn't always happen when my hub is gone and so I will most likely stay up rather late and curse my alarm when it goes off at 4:30 am!
One of my favorite things...the smell of baked goods from the oven!  Mmm....

Play along!  It's fun!

"The sun...in its full glory, either at rising or setting-this, and many other like blessings we enjoy daily; and for the most of them, because they are so common, most...forget to pay their praises. But let us not."   ~Izaak Walton

For Today... March 20, 2015
Outside my window...it is dark and 51°
I am thinking...how I will get everything done I need to tomorrow because I'm so tired and sore from my 19 mile run today.
I am thankful...for second chances.
I am wearing...my jeans and my RUN BIG running shirt from Kona.
I am creating...a birthday cake for McKay tomorrow for his 18th birthday.  It's going to be a missionary cake that I traditionally make for each boy on their 19th birthday but he will be going one year early.
I am going...to Taylor's Alumni game tonight at the high school.  It doesn't start until 11:00 pm!
I am wondering... how I will stay awake since I've been up since 4:30 am!
I am reading...Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmadge
I am hoping...that some things that have been a little tense lately will end well.
I am learning...that I must always treat difficult people with extra kindness.
In my kitchen...I am making Twix Bars tomorrow (along with the bday cake!). I owe them to some peeps!
A favorite quote for today...Appreciate the past, Cherish the present, Accept the future. (I stole that from my friend Dawn's Food 4 Thought Friday). I really needed that this week. Or put another way:

A peek into one of my days...tomorrow I have to get up and do a five mile recovery run.  I then need to make McKay's bday cake and Twix bars.  I'm going to attend Taylor's game at 1:30 and again at 5:30 at the Alumni Tourney.  I will see McKay off to junior prom and hope that there is a chance (fat chance!) he will bring his date back here so I can take pictures of them.  I have to prepare my Sunday School lesson and figure out what is for Sunday dinner.  I need to get Dave's mom a birthday present and I need to wrap all of McKay's birthday gifts. And do all the other normal stuff in between (cleaning, laundry, etc).
A few of my favorite things...I am currently in love with Jelly Belly's, Popcorner Kettle Chips, Brookside's Clusters.

  To play go here.

My blogging friend Jodi plays this Meme each week and I thought it looked fun, so I decided to try it out.  The author's link can be found HERE.
FOR TODAY

Outside my window...pitch black.  It's 9:00 pm  The weather is mild and 55°.

I am thinking...I wonder when Taylor is going to get home from his spring break trip to California or if he decided to stay and go to Zion's on the way home.  He didn't respond to my text I sent him asking when he was going to arrive.

I am thankful...for my health and that I am able to run tomorrow...even though I am kind of dreading it.  But at least I am able to run, and for that I am very grateful!

In the kitchen...I spent several hours cleaning it today.  I vacuumed, mopped, and did some nitty-gritty cleaning.  I also organized the pantry, the baking center, and my lazy susan.

I am wearing...a purple polka dotted cardigan with a purple maxi skirt.  We had to go to a wedding reception tonight and so that is why I am dressed up.

I am creating...some files for Dave's stake office to help him get organized.  I hope to get them done tomorrow.

I am going...to the Family History Conference tomorrow if all works out.

I am wondering...why I just gave Mr. Cat catnip because he gets rather aggressive and now my hand and arm hurt because he scratched me up pretty good.

I am reading...well...let me think.  I am always reading several books at the same time.  Currently I am reading Jesus the Christ, Unbroken, Angels Beside You, 1000 Gifts, Marie Osmond's book, Beyond the Veil, and several others I can't recall the titles of.  I wish I were one of those that could just focus on one book at a time, but it's not ever gonna happen!

I am hoping...I am able to sleep well tonight because I have my long run in the morning.

I am looking forward to...SPRING!  I love spring!

I am learning...PATIENCE...definitely an ongoing thing for me.  Some people just require more than you have at times, but I am getting better at it.

Around the house...my new paint is already chipped a the top of the basement stairs. I asked Dave to get a plastic protector piece because I knew that area would be getting bad just like last time.  Now it will have to be touched up already.

I am pondering...if I should go back to school and get my Masters.

A favorite quote for today...it was a toss up between these two:

One of my favorite things...running before the world rises.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Saturday - long run/family history conference, Sunday- teach Sunday School, Monday - do my St. Patrick's Day green dinner for FHE, Tuesday - Lunch Bunch at the Greenery for St. Pat's Day/McKay wisdom teeth consult/RS Birthday Dinner, Wednesday - lunch for Dave's Mom's birthday at Maddox, Thursday - shopping in Ogden for McKay's 18th birthday on Sunday, Friday - date night, Saturday- 19 mile run.

A peek into my day...I didn't have to run today which is very unusual. It felt so good to get an early start on things.  I did a lot of paper work, cleaning and organizing the kitchen, and my friend Julie stopped by for a visit.  Then I went and visited Mona with Julie and Shauna.  We took her a plant to cheer her up because her mother in law passed away this week. I came home and cleaned the bathroom and vacuumed and mopped the whole mid level, and then headed to a wedding reception with Dave. We went out to eat at Pizza Hut so I could carb load for my long run tomorrow.
