Saturday 9 and Photohunt (Protection!)

1. If you could have just one more conversation with a person from your past, who would it be? Probably my Grandma Mae. She was so much fun and passed away when I was in high school. I would love to have her around to talk to often.

2. Do your friends tend to be male or female?
Most of them are female, but I seem to relate better to certain males than some females.

3. What is in your car’s trunk?
Tire stuff, emergency car kit, first aid kit, blankets, and other miscellaneous junk.

4. What was the last CD that you purchased?
I don't buy a lot of CD's and so I can't remember. It was probably a Christmas one.

5. What is your favorite movie and why?
It's a Wonderful Life because it has such a great message of hope.

6. If you could wake up with a new talent tomorrow, what would it be?
To be able to play the harp.

7. What is your favorite day of the week and why?
It varies depending on what is going on that week. But I love Saturday's because I usually get to spend time with my boys.

8. What are you wearing when you feel you’re at your best?
Nothing special, but I probably feel my best when I am wearing either a nice pant-suit or a skirt and jacket with some snazzy shoes to match. And amazingly enough it doesn't even have to be purple! But I also can feel great in just a pair of jeans and a cute t-shirt. To feel my very best, I need to be wearing make-up and having a good hair day.

9. When was the last time you cried?
I had a serious hay fever attack yesterday and tears were streaming down my face. Does that count? lol

This week's theme was PROTECT(ion)

I confess when I first heard the theme I went blank and decided not to play, but when I got thinking about it, I was able to come up with more than enough ideas to go with it. So here's my take on PROTECT(ion):

Me and my Samoyed dogs. They were very good PROTECTORS!!!

At one point we had ELEVEN of them in our home before we sold the puppies!!! No one was going to mess with us!!!

Cats make for good protectors too! They protect me from MICE!!!

And of course BIG BROTHERS are the BEST protectors of little sisters!!

One of my little men to protect me from ANYTHING! Check out the look in his eyes...no one is gonna mess with Taylor!

Lucky for me I was blessed with ♥SIX♥ MEN to protect ME!!!

Even though "I" can fend for myself if needs be!!!

Saturday Memes

1. Have you ever been told that you look like some famous?
I've been told I look like Jessica Rabbit (I know... just kidding to see if you are awake!), Dolly Parton (Bawahaha!!!...kidding again! - Oh I am cracking myself up!), okay serious now...I really have been told I look like Olivia Newton John (now if only I really did!), Patricia Wettig, Princess Diana (when I had a different hair style), and Nicea Degering (Good Things Utah). Any of which I wouldn't complain.
2. Name a celebrity that shares your birthday.
King Constantine I of Greece, Linda Fratianne (American figure skater - same year) , Peter O' Toole, and Carol O' Conner.
3. Tell us about your first kiss.
First kiss was when I was in second grade, but if we are talking first REAL kiss, then it was in high school when I was dating a college guy. We had dated a couple of times and when we were doubling with some friends at one of their houses, we went outside and next thing I knew he laid one on me! When he was done, I grabbed him and laid one right back on him! (JK, about that last part, but you have to admit it sounded good!)
4. When you meet someone attractive, what do you notice first?
Smile and eyes...
5. What was your biggest mistake ever?
Gosh...I have never analyzed that question. Too many to choose!
6. Give us one random, but candid fact about you.
I love my hair played with.
7. What about your current or most recent lover excites you?
That he literally treats me like a Queen. It's wonderful!
8. What really annoys you?
People lying to my face to save theirs.
9. How many other Saturday 9’ers answers do you usually read?

As many as I have time for.

Saturday Memes

1. Where would you go if you wanted to spark your creativity?
I have to get inside my head and so to do that I would probably need to be alone and in a quiet place. Being outside on a run or walk helps immensely.

2. What would be one thing that would embarrass you a great deal?
When I forget things like people's names I really know! And pretty much anything that takes me out of my comfort zone. I have to have my house spotless when I leave on a vacation because the thought of the Relief Society (church ladies) coming in to clean it if I were to die makes me crazy!

3. What values did your parents instill in you? Honesty, loyalty, kindness, hard work, responsibility, concern for others, service, & determination.

4. What’s a fad of your teen years that you remember well? Bell bottom pants, mood rings, leg warmers, DISCO!, afros, pet rocks, Farrah hair, streaking.

5. What is your favorite breakfast? German Oven Pancakes with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and orange syrup! Mmm.....ooooo....

6. What is the best birthday gift that you have received? A purple amethyst necklace Dave gave me when we were dating. I still have it.

7. What gadget could you not live without? My cell phone, computer, flat iron, & clothes steamer (I ♥ it!).

8. Do you collect anything? DUST!

I collect money! Seriously, when I am out on a run if I see ANY coins, I pick them up and save them in a jewelry box I have. It is my belief that each coin is a little "HI" from my son Tyson who passed away three years ago. I also collect lighthouses and purple dishes. T-shirts and medals or ribbons from my races. I used to collect miniatures, but haven't for years.

9. What website (non-blog) do you regularly visit? Sugardoodle.net, facebook, & yahoo mail.

PHOTO HUNT

Today's theme is: BRIDGES

When I was in college, I went on a tour with the Weber State Marching Band to Europe (I was the majorette and rifle twirler). Our competition was in London and then we toured Paris, Belgium, Amsterdam, and some other cities. Someday I will have to post about my excursion in Red Light District! Whew! We actually marched across the Westminster Bridge in London in a parade that was strickly for those of us in the International Competition. It was shown on International TV. London is amazing!

This is me and my friend Jody standing on the Westminster Bridge that goes over the Thames River in London. That is Big Ben in the background. The picture quality is bad because they weren't in acid free albums. It was so long ago, I don't think they made them back them!

Here we are in the parade marching across the Westminster Bridge. ↓ I am the one in the skimpy purple costume in the middle. It was a very foggy day and FREEZING!!!

Here we are again at Royal Albert Hall getting ready to perform. You can see my purple costume underneath my white shirt. I did the rifle routines and then had to rip this uniform off and do my baton numbers! Hmm...

A better picture of Westminster Bridge.
We also got to see Tower Bridge while there.

Saturday 9: TIME HAS COME TODAY

1. What time of day do you usually play Saturday 9?
I just started doing it, but I usually try and do it on Friday before I go to bed, but it wasn't up!
2. At 9AM on a weekday, what are you doing?
Usually on my run or just getting back. Or in the shower or on my blog.
3. At 9PM on any given night, what would you most like to be doing?
Dishes, cleaning, helping the boys homework, or computing.
4. What is your most frequent activity online?
Blogging! Email or Facebooking.
5. Is there one day of the week that seems to fly by? If yes, why?
Probably Wednesdays since they are my busiest usually.
6. Do you agree that the older you get, the faster time seems to go by?
YES! Why is that btw???
7. What is your favorite thing to do with free time?
Read, write, blog, bake, go to lunch with friends.
8. How much time do you spend alone? Would you like it to be more? Less?
I now have more time alone than I ever have. I really enjoy spending time alone. I could always use more, but I also really enjoy being with my family and friends too.
9. If you could spend one hour doing something what would it be?
Hmm...that's tough. Probably the same as #7. Or taking a long hot shower, going to a movie, just being still and meditating over life.

Enjoy your weekend!

This week's subject was FURRY...

Our bunny Bandit was definitely FURRY!

Another furry bunny!

Furry in a messed up sort of way↓

Last week's was CHIPPED (I am playing this week since I missed last weeks)

I am really strrreeeetttccchhhhiiiinnnggg this....since CHIPPED is an impossible subject!

CHIPPED is at least a golf term, so it relates kind of! I am posting these mini golf pix of my boys chipping all kinds of things except the ball! (i.e., the cool siding on the haunted house, the paint on the course, the car windows in the parking lot...okay so I am exaggerating a little, but this one was hard!)

1. Which meal is the one you cook best?
Dave would say my Wok Dinner. It is pretty tasty but a lot of work. My boys would probably say my crepes with Suzette sauce, meatloaf, pork chops, or chicken pot pie. Personally I would say my lasagna.

2. Tell us what you would never eat.
I would never eat escargot (translated as slimmy disgusting why on earth would anyone eat snails!), oysters, squid, sushi, octopus (pretty much ANYTHING from the ocean!), frog legs, rattlesnake, tongue, liver, pigs feet, brains of any kind, the list could go ON and ON!

3. Is your hometown famous for anything or anybody?
The 2002 Winter Olympics!

4. Can you play a musical instrument?
I play the piano. I used to play the clarinet in Jr. High. I still really want to learn to play the harp.

5. Tell us about your second ever lover.
Well, since my hubby reads this occasionally, I will plead the 5th on this one!

6. What is your favorite restaurant?
Old Spaghetti Factory and Carrabas♥

7. If it were your call, how often would you make love?
Exercising my constitutional rights again.....the 5th!

8. What famous person would you like to have dinner with?
Hmm....there's too many to pick just one. Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, Sarah Palin, Oprah, Thomas S. Monson.

9. Tell us about your job.
I honestly have the best job on the planet. Even though I also believe it is the hardest. I am a SAHM and I love it. There is nothing I can think of that I would rather be doing than creating a home where my family wants to return to each day after being beaten around in the crazy world.

Saturday 9: The First Apartment
I did a little photo hunting on this one too!

1. Where had you moved from? My parent's house.

2. Describe your first apartment. It was in St. George when I went to Dixie College. It was a white townhouse and I had five roommates. We were close to campus and across the street was a church with a limo that we called the po-lyg car because it was the longest limo we had ever seen! I went down with my friend Shauna and when we got there we really had to clean the apartment. Our roomies were beauty queen beautiful, but it wasn't very clean. We also had roaches in our kitchen and silverfish in the bathroom. Normal for St. George, but STILL! Quite surprised I even stayed after that piece of knowledge was privy to my brain.

Mel, Janet, Tina, Tanya, Me (in purple of course)

Cleaning out the weevil and roach infested flour we found the day we moved in! Get a load of those shorts!

Po-lyg Limo↑ (and there were several more rows of doors!) Wonder how many kids and wives they could fit in here? Can you imagine how many, "Are we there yets?" the poor guy would have to endure!!!
In some ways it looks like the Ghostbuster Cruiser! Maybe that's what it is!

3. How old were you when you had your apartment? 18 years young.

4. Did you have roommates? If yes, tell us more. I had five roommates. Shauna (whom I went with--- check out her blog here!) and Tanya, Melanie, Tina, and Janet. Shauna was my partner in crime and we really had a blast together. Mel played the typical dumb blond hiding how smart she really was. She had a new guy over ever night. Janet was very down to earth but always busy with her boyfriend (now husband) Dave. Tina was delicate but very beautiful. Tanya was just cute and perky. I loved them all. They were all from the area and helped orient us foreigners. Such good memories!

My Roomies! Tina, Mel, Tanya, Janet, Shauna, Me

We be stylin'! Serious! We were! Shocking I know! We had all just modeled in a fashion show for JC Penneys! Kinda scary. How styles have changed... thankfully! Oh that dress!

5. What was your place of employment then? We worked in the office during school and then Shauna and I stayed and worked for the summer in the cafeteria. We did catering all over the area for special groups and worked in the kitchen for youth conferences etc. It was so much fun being there in the summer even when it got to 115°! We went tunnel running in Zions Park and went to Las Vegas a few times and saw all the cool sights we never had time for during school.
Me and Shauna working in the office at Dixie College ↓

The catering & kitchen crew

6. How were you finances at the time? About how they are now...always in need of more!

7. Tell us about a lover who spent a night there. Lover? Hmm... No boys were allowed to do THAT - though Janet's boyfriend Dave fell asleep on the couch a few times! My lover "friend" did fall asleep in my room on the floor once though. But Shauna and I woke him up and sent him on his way! lol

8. Tell us about a band you listened to then. (You can cheat. Look it up.) Boston, Eagles, Foreigner, Kansas, Styx, Elton John and I confess...Barry Manilow! Bet you can guess when it was!!!

9. How long did you live there and why did you move from there? Six months. I only stayed for one semester and the summer. I moved because I was heading back to go to school at Weber State University. Dixie was only a junior college then...and besides my "friend" went on a church mission.

*In front of our apartment on someone's cool car! (not ours dang it!) If you look above my head you can see the polyg car in the back. See how loooooong it is! Might have to click to enlarge *With Rodney Rebel (wow shorts used to be really short!) *Janet, me, Shauna, ready to jog (or at least pretending to be for the picture) * Tina, Susan, me
