He IS there to comfort.

Serenity Sunday ~ ♥ Homesick ♥

Today's video is posted in honor of my son Tyson who passed away three years ago. He was a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and when I saw this video it reminded me so much of him. The song HOMESICK by Mercy Me was one we used on the video of his life that we showed at his viewing. When I saw the song WITH scenes from the movie, it really struck a chord in me and so I wanted to share this with those of you who knew him... or knew someone else that is no longer in your life that you miss. Listen closely to the words....

Serenity Sunday ~ Come To Jesus

Remember to pause my playlist at the bottom (far left button)

I had the amazing privilege of hearing this song performed live by Kenneth Cope this weekend at Time Out for Women. I have always loved his music and his voice, but seeing him perform in person and seeing the look and expressions on his face that so powerfully testify that he KNOWS and BELIEVES what he is singing, was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life.

I took pages and pages of notes of the speakers, but I learned more from his words and spirit than all of the speakers combined.

When I bought his CD Greater Than Us All at least 10 or more years ago...I listened to it over and over and over because it just spoke to me. Then when Tyson passed away I knew immediately that the song Never a Better Hero had to be sung at his funeral. For more on that go HERE.

I was able to meet Kenneth and talk to him this weekend during the conference. He was genuine. He remembered me and my name the second day. He is so kind and so Christlike in person that it is no wonder his music is so powerful. What a gift he has. What a gift that I can now call him my friend. I will write more about this when I do my post on Time Out for Women, but for now ENJOY his music!

Serenity Sunday ~ Never a Better Hero

~ Never a Better Hero ~

by Kenneth Cope

This song touched me deeply the first time I heard it. It is an amazing song with a powerful message. There never was a better hero than the Savior. His life AND death was for us.

When my son Tyson passed away, I knew immediately that one of the songs that must be sung at his funeral was this one. Not only because Tyson's hero was the Savior, but because Tyson was so much like Him. He was the most Christlike person I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I have never been able to understand how someone who suffered so much of his own pain, was always able to think of others before himself. Tyson was always the first to ask if anyone needed anything or if they were doing okay. But it wasn't just when he was feeling his best. He asked and genuinely wanted to know even when he was feeling his very worst and at his sickest. How I miss that boy! He was that way because he emulated the Savior in so many ways. He understood so much about that pure Christlike unconditional love that most people don't even have a concept of. He possessed it. And not only did he possess it, but he showed it and gave it freely. He was a hero too. I only hope someday I can be like him. This is in his memory.

♥ I love you bud.♥

Serenity Sunday ~ Be Still My Soul

"Be Still, My Soul" by Catharina von Schlegel
Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side; Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain; Leave to thy God to order and provide; In every change He faithful will remain. Be still, my soul; thy best, thy heavenly, Friend; Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul; thy God doth undertake, To guide the future as He has the past. Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul; the waves and winds still know; His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Be still, my soul; the hour is hastening on, When we shall be forever with the Lord, When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone, Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored. Be still, my soul; when change and tears are past, All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Be still, my soul, though dearest friends depart, And all is darkened in the vale of tears; Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart, Who comes to soothe thy sorrows and thy fears. Be still, my soul; thy Jesus can repay; From His own fulness all He takes away.

Serenity Sunday ~ A Child's Prayer

A Child's Prayer

To hear the song without my blog music, scroll down to my playlist and click on the far left button to pause it.

There is just nothing as precious as a prayer offered up by a child. The total faith and sincerity that they offer is so touching. My little McKay always reminds us every single night (without fail!) to: "Remember to say your prayers" or "Don't forget to say your personal prayers before you go to bed." He has an unwavering faith in the power of prayer and is an inspiration to the rest of us. A pure childlike faith...

Have a Serene Sunday... enjoying those few tranquil moments in today's busy world.
