MERRY CHRISTMAS 2015
'Twas the week before Christmas at the Wilding home,
Yet not a word had been written on this #&$%@! lovely poem.
Panic was starting to set in — as is usually the case,
Time to get my act together and pick up the pace.
Pause the shopping, the wrapping, and the Hallmark flicks,
Halt the parties, the baking and my chocolate fix...
Time to put pen to paper and crank out some sort of rhyme,
Of our year in review before I'm flat out of time.
Between speaking, releases, interviews, and stake meetings,
Dave’s schedule is full —free time keeps depleting.
His garden is bounteous — weeds don't stand a chance,
He pampers and spoils it — just like a romance.
He sleeps when he can and he cans when he should sleep,
Peaches, tomatoes, juice and jam... his salsa can't be beat.
His Pickleball skills landed him on a league in our town,
Playing darts with the guys he can sometimes be found.
The last 30 years I've had at least one son at my side,
By now I should be hearing "Here Comes the Bride".
You'd think I'd be bored with all of them grown,
That's just not the case, I could still use a clone.
My friends all have grand kids while I have a cat,
Cat’s aren’t much for lullabies or tea party hats.
My goal to run Boston is now more than a dream,
Qualified in St. George for the Boston Marathon 2017!
Sky’s at home in Hawaii having been there a few years,
He catches amazing fish with only a spear.
He snorkels with mantas and hunt lobsters at night,
Kona's beaches are stunning with sand green, black or white.
Solar energy's his field — Sun Run signs his checks,
On the side he sells drugs as a pharmaceutical rep.
He makes a fantastic host and an awesome tour guide,
He loves what he does, though it may take him stateside.
Bryce is big into camping — he loves to hike and to fish,
Anything to do with the outdoors tops his Christmas list.
On his long board he crashed and burned pretty hard,
He survived though his body was left a bit scarred.
He made it home for Thanksgiving, but could only stay for a day,
Working his tail off right now leaves little time left to play.
This holiday season finds him at work in the cold and the dark,
In Idaho Falls running the Freeman Christmas Light Park.
Now that Taylor's back from Brazil his life's a bit harried,
College, dating, two jobs... in homework he's buried.
He worked landscaping this summer — visited Sky in Hawaii this fall,
Now at Utah State with his buds having a ball.
Their place is the hang out though they can't seem to stay fed,
No kitchen table for them — it's Ping Pong instead.
His city league basketball team walked away with first place,
Not sure how he places without training in every road race.
12 days after McKay graduated from high school this June,
He was off to Russia on a mission...that came much too soon!
Took his senior trip in the spring with his buds to LA,
His mission call came while he was gone — torturing us in a big way!
He's currently in Siberia (Angarsk), one of the coldest places on earth,
But he's happy and in the Lord's service he's totally immersed.
As a trainer he’s focused, but still wonders the reason,
How his Panther's are NOW having their first unbeaten season?
We had a great time visiting Skyler in Kona this fall,
Catching a 300 lb Marlin was the highlight for all.
The 10th Angelversary of Tyson we marked this past year,
Hard to believe it's been that long since we had him here.
2015 has left us feeling grateful and blessed,
Though we're still not huge fans of our empty nest (it's for the birds).
This holiday season our hearts turn to our dear family and friends,
Our love and best wishes to you we now send.
May you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Dave, Jodi, Skyler, Bryce, Taylor, McKay and Mr. Cat
