MY ANSWERS

Breakfast
What is your favorite Halloween costume that you ever wore? (add a photo if possible!) I have sooooo many, but the funnest would have to be when Dave was a cop and I was a donut. We won an award for that one. I made the donut out of a snow tube.

My REESE'S Peanut Butter Cup is a close second.

Interesting they both involve CHOCOLATE!!! Yum!

Lunch
What are you going to do on Halloween?
Go to Road Show practice in the morning and try and keep 36 plus youth where they need to be for each scene. Also try and finish teaching the choreography to a couple girls that have cheerleader parts that have been sick. Then I am going to make some creepy Halloween appetizers and Creamy Potato and Cheese soup to serve in pumpkin bread bowls for dinner. My parents are coming and McKay is also having a party here. Then I will answer the door and pass out treats. I love to do that. It must be the social part that I love! ♥

Dinner

Are you a lover or hater of scary movies?

Oh my gosh, I LOVE scary movies! Scary, not horror. I LOVE to be scared, but NOT if I am alone! I usually watch them with one hand covering my eyes as I try and peek through.

Midnight Snack
What kind of treats (or tricks) are you handing out this year?
We usually hand out the regular size candy bars, because they go on sell this time of year. But this year the cheapest I saw them were 50 cents each. Usually they go down to 25 cents. So, I am going back to the traditional mini Halloween popcorn bags that we have given out for years. I do have a couple of "special" friends that I give the giant Symphony Bars to.

Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?)
Sometimes it hits you, that life is too short. Get happy, stay happy, love your family and friends and let go of the people that don't make you smile.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

1. It was a dark and stormy night, when I arrived in St. Louis the first night to join Dave for our loooooong med school journey.

2. I am addicted to books, so I offered to take the books myself.

3. Rushing out, I usually forget something important.

4. On Halloween night...I think I heard a howl!

5. Shhhh... there is someone out there!

6. TrIcK oR tReAt! Smell my feet, give me something good to eat!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to feeling lost that football is over and no game to attend... :( so maybe we will actually have a date night! tomorrow my plans include our last Road Show practice (with 36 youth!) trying to get it to come together, making a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween dinner that my parents are coming to, throwing a party for McKay and his buds, and thrilled I DO NOT have to go trick or treating in this FREEZING weather since the boys don't need their Mommy to take them anymore (waa-waa!), and Sunday, I want to enjoy what will probably be my last Sunday as Young Women President (double waa-waa!!!). Gonna be hard to give that up!

MY ANSWERS

Breakfast
What was your high and low of the week?
My high was watching Taylor play his last football game of the season. It wasn't a high because I am glad it's over ~ ah-contraire ~ but because he had such a great season. I am really going to MISS it bad! Good thing basketball is just around the corner! And also taking my two college sons out to lunch this week when I was in their city for a meeting was a high. So great to spend time with them. My low was attending the viewing of my friend's daughter who was killed in a car accident last week. She was only 21 and pregnant with her first child.

Lunch
What is something you used to do religiously that you no longer do?
My amazing card system to clean my house. I did it for years and then this past year I got out of the habit and I can tell a huge difference! I really NEED to get back on it! You can see it here.

Dinner

What is something you now do that you never in your wildest dreams thought you would be doing?

Running! I always HATED to run and thought people who actually did were one card short of a full deck. But here I am doing it almost every day and enjoying it (well for the most part!)

Midnight Snack
How much do you enjoy Halloween?
I'm out of control! I absolutely LOVE it. It's my very favorite holiday! I love that it is so much fun and not stressful like Christmas tends to be. I love to make scary foods and creative costumes, as well as decorate to the hilt and just have fun with it.

Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?)
Once again...♥CHERISH THE MOMENTS♥ Life is a precious gift that can be taken from us at any time.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

1. The crickets sing, inside my house sometimes.

2. Be happy wherever you are.

3. I want to get far away from the drama!

4. Publisher's Clearing House just knocked on my door; this was a dream.

5. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

6. Amazingly enough, Pioneer stock is what I come from.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to not sure since Taylor's Varsity game was last night instead of tonight and Dave's on call tomorrow my plans include running the Spooktacular 5K race, road show practice, probably canning apple juice, attend our Stake Conference adult meeting and Sunday, I want to enjoy Stake Conference and be done with church by noon!!!

Definitely NOT in Hog Heaven!

OINK ~ OINK!!!

Yep it's true...

The dreaded, anticipated, feared, little piggy flu that has sent the country into near hysterics at times, is INSIDE my body as we speak! (er...type)
Oink~ oink!!!!

I do have to say the hype of it all has been entertaining if nothing else. I am not trying to down play the seriousness of it at all, because as we all know, it CAN be deadly. BUT, so can every other flu strain we have ever experienced. The hype has escalated for ONE reason....and that is the media. It is amazing the power the media has on our country and how we deal with things. They have really "hammed" it up with this one though. Having said that, let me say that it is NOT really one of those fun things to "catch" and so do avoid it at all costs. But if you DO get it just try to:

Actually, I didn't sneeze much with it, but the coughing was HORRENDOUS! For those of you interested in the symptoms, it usually starts out with a high fever, and then a headache, body aches, fatigue, sore throat, congestion, and a productive cough. Oh that cough! I thought I was going to cough up a lung several times. My son Taylor also has it but his cough hasn't been as bad as mine, but his sore throat was much worse. He also had bad heartburn in the beginning and I didn't. Nausea and throwing up are typically not seen in most cases, but are in some. Neither of us experienced either of those, thank goodness! It definitely kicks your hiney and keeps you down for a while, though I do have to say I have experienced many other flu's that were much worse. It totally depends on the person how bad the symptoms and the severity of it. Typically it is much harder the younger you are.

My husband decided after four days that me and my son Taylor needed to be tested to see if we were H1N1 positive. He did the rapid test (not a culture) and in order to do that we "GOT" to experience a wonderful nasal swab test. Oh such FUN! I really wasn't too worried because I though he would just do a little swab wipe inside the nose and that was that.

Um...NOPE!

He came home for lunch and showed up with two VERY long Q-tips. One for me, and one for Taylor. They were about 10 inches in length. As he was getting ready to do the swab on me I asked him how far up it had to go. BIG MISTAKE! He was holding it at the very bottom and replied, "To my fingers." That meant nearly the full 10 inches! He explained it had to go inside the nose and all the way down the throat!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Uh-uh! No way Josea! I told him, "Thanks, but NO thanks! Now LEAVE! Bye-bye!!!"

He was very persistent (this is his gift unfortunately!), and after I protested for at least 10 minutes, he talked me into it by way of persuasion that IF it is SWINE I will need to get on meds stat and there is no way to know without the test. DRATS! I tried to tell him that me and Taylor had the same thing and so being the wonderful mother that I am, I told him to just test Taylor! If he has it, then we will know I do too WITHOUT shoving a Q-tip the size of a pole vault down my nose! Okay, okay, in my defense I did offer to have him just test ME too and not Taylor. I was willing to take one for the team. Though not really willingly. He wouldn't go for either.

I was not a good patient during this procedure. He still has (three days later) dig marks in his hand from my nails digging into them. Now wait a minute, don't go feeling all sorry for him. Let's keep in mind he was trying to play Rotor Rooter on my nose! There was even a brief second when I think I could tell by the look in his eye that he was actually enjoying it! If he starts to oink, I am going to offer to be the one to swab his nasal passages!

Mine was actually much worse than this little misleading photo shows
The swab was MUCH MUCH MUCH longer!

The results came back H1N1 positive. We started on Tamiflu that day.

To save yourself from getting the dreaded little piggly wiggly flu, be sure to:

MY ANSWERS
Breakfast
Would you or have you ever gone sky diving?
I have always said I would NEVER do that, but the older I get the more brave I am getting in doing absolutely insane things like that. My oldest son has done it several times and he says it's great and doesn't feel like you are free falling. The very hardest part for me would be getting the courage to actually jump from the plane. Scarrrrrry!!!

Lunch
What do you think about President Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize?
Five words.... DO NOT GET ME STARTED!!! This one act has really caused me to lose mistrust in the leaders of our world. But I will stop there!

Dinner

What is the last movie you saw? Did you enjoy it?

I just saw LOVE HAPPENS last night with my sister-in laws. It was a very good movie and had so much I didn't expect from just seeing the trailer. It was a tear jerker. I would recommend it and definitely watch it again.

Midnight Snack
How much of a worrier are you?
I used to be much worse than I am now. Now I know that it does absolutely no good to worry about things you can not change. Why waste your energy on things that you have no control over? I am trying to teach this to my 12 year old. He is a huge worrier!

Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?)
Life isn't always what you expect. You have to learn to take what comes and then "come what may and love it!"

1. So are we going to even get a fall this year????

2. A future that is better than the past is what's up ahead.

3. I love to take long hot showers after a cold run.

4. I need a fresh start of some sort.

5. I walk a lot more than I am running lately.

6. Fresh water is the true elixir of life!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to good question. We would normally be attending the football game to watch Taylor, but he has had the Swine flu all week and so won't be playing, so maybe do something with Dave's sister and fam that is here, tomorrow my plans include attend and AMI mini-conference in Logan, attend the USU Football game with the youth in my church, then attend a retreat for the older girl's I teach in church, gonna be running from 7 a.m until 11 p.m! and Sunday, I want to have my young women board meeting here, attend my meetings, and attend my cute nieces 6th birthday party.

Peach Days 10 K

This year I ran my third Peach Days 10K. I was not as prepared for it this year as the last two years, but what the heck, I did it anyway.

Heading out the door↑

"Trying" to head out the door! ↓ Yes I am on the phone! Talking to Sego Lily telling them I am going to be needing a massage soon! :D

In the parking lot before the race...getting ready to make a run for it.

I really wish I had a picture of the racers all lined up before the gun went off. There were a LOT of racers again this year! Almost 400! The conditions were NOT very conducive to getting a good time because the WIND was just blowing and pushing so hard. The temp was perfect, but the WIND was a pain! Running against the wind is one of the hardest and most grueling energy depleters there is for a runner. It's ten times worse when it's uphill! There is a part on the course that has a killer uphill, and this year, the wind happened to be the worst at that point.

I was trying so hard to get catch up to a couple of big guys so they could break the wind for me. I kept pushing it and pushing it so I could. Going uphill on the hardest part of the course is not a good idea when the wind is blowing so hard against you. I felt like I was running in slow motion because even though I was really pushing it, it felt like I was barely moving. When I finally got behind my big wind breakers, I didn't notice any change. Other than I was exhausted! Luckily after I reached the top of the hill, I had about half mile of downhill to recover.

Still running. This was just after the hard hill and wind! Only about half way. That's why I'm still smiling and giving the thumbs up.

The course goes right past my cul-de-sac. Almost to my house. So tempting to go up and grab some Gatorade and a little nap!

The last part of the race is a steady TWO mile uphill climb that you run in front of the parade spectators. The good thing about it is that there are so many people cheering you on when you need it the most. The bad thing is that if you want to quit, you don't dare! Well, maybe that's a good thing too!

I have to admit, this was the FIRST race I have ever ran that I honestly wanted to quit. Either that or DIE first!!! Not even the two half marathons were this hard. I was really feeling it and wasn't sure if I had it in me what it took to cross that finish line this year. I kept pushing it and began looking for my fam. My sister-in-law told me where she was going to be saving a spot for all of us. When I finally got to that point, I saw her on her cell phone and a male runner that had just collapsed laying on her tarp. He didn't look so good, but I kept going knowing she had it under control. Each year, there are runners that collapse or are taken off in an ambulance. I have to admit the thought crossed my mind that if I fake a collapse then I won't have to finish this! In fact, I was beginning to think I might not need to "fake" it. As I kept running uphill towards that much desired finish line, an ambulance came rushing by me. I was certain it was going to the man on my SIL's tarp. I was right. (See sidenote at bottom)

I don't know where it came from, but I found what I needed to cross the finish line. It was hard. It was very hard, but I did it. I don't know what made it so tough for me this year, other than the wind. Most runners were complaining about how much harder it felt this year. The Peach Days course is touted as the hardest 10K in the state. Runners come from all over for the challenge. This year there were runners from Canada, New York, Hollywood, and all over the west.

My friend Mont (on right) about to storm across the finish line.

Oh! Almost there! NOTHING has looked this good to me in a very long time!!!

I REALLY wanted to beat my last year's time. Just missed it by a minute! Guess that's not too bad considering the wind really slowed me down. At this point, all I wanted was to STOP running!!!

WATER! I NEED water!!! This is the first race EVER that I sat down! It was also the first ever that I felt nauseated after I stopped. I was feeling EVERY inch of those six miles! Luckily, I started to feel much better after about 20 minutes.

Wow! Even a smile! Jen, ALWAYS my supportive friend, asking me how it went.

Survivors of the grueling 2009 Peach Days torture run! ↓

Julie, Mont, and me. Mont is holding our pal Mike's number because he had to "dash" off.

So happy we made it and lived to tell about it! And I am NOT joking about this either!!! (read SIDENOTE at bottom)

The best part was I got a MEDAL!!!! I placed third in my age division! WOOT-WOOT!!! I was sooooooooo happy!!! Was NOT expecting that!!! I came in 153rd out of 389 runners! Not bad, for an old woman!!! Especially considering the majority of runners are much younger than I am! Well, I don't want to emphasize "much", but you know what I mean! Ha!

Me and my medal!!!!

Another Peach Days 10K down! I hope next year's is a little more of a fun run! Fun run? Did I say that? I am sure that's an oxymoron!

VERY SAD SIDENOTE:
The runner that collapsed and was laying on my SIL's tarp, didn't make it. He stopped breathing and the paramedics were unable to revive him. He was only 32 years old (I believe) and a seasoned runner. He ultimately died of cardiac arrest, but I still haven't heard the report on the autopsy. It has been very hard on my sister in law as she was the one that saw him start to stagger in the road and so she went up to him and asked if he was okay. He didn't respond and so she helped get him off the road and onto her tarp. He collapsed on her before she could get him all the way off the street. Several people started CPR, but were never able to get a pulse. Once the ambulance arrived, they shocked his heart, but no avail. It was very sad. Isn't running supposed to be GOOD for you???

MY ANSWERS
Breakfast
Would you rather be really hungry or really tired?
I would normally say really tired because I HATE to be hungry! But right now I can tell my body is trying to get sick on me and I am SO stinkin' tired and sooo hating it because I don't have the time to go take a rest and try and re-coop. So today I would choose really hungry.

Lunch
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
The great friends I have met through it. Even though I haven't met most of you, I feel like we have been friends forever. It's amazing what the internet can do!

Dinner
If you were given three hours to do anything, but could not clean or catch-up on things you were behind on, how would you spend it?
Bad day to ask that! Right now all I want to do is go lay down and rest. Normally I would say read! I love to read but don't find much time to do it as often as I like.

Midnight Snack
Are you persistent or do you give up easily?
That totally depends on the situation. I am very persistent with things that I am passionate about and things that as a mother I know my boys need to do, but I do not like to push people into things either. I would be a horrible saleperson....unless of course, I was selling something chocolate or purple! lol

Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?) Everyone needs to feel loved. Sometimes it's those hardest to love that really need you to show an increase of love to them. Love is the most powerful force in the universe. ♥♥♥

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

1. Sweet dreams is what I'd like right now!

2. Oh, pennies from heaven especially for me.

3. Silliness is something I love in others!

4. We are finally having a couple's costume party this Halloween and I don't have a good costume idea! Help!

5. Outstanding or not the effort still counts!

6. To feel completely content is what I want right now!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Dave's sister and fam arriving from Arizona!, attening the high school Homecoming game and watching Taylor play, tomorrow my plans include an early morning youth planning meeting and then roadshow practice I need to help with, then visit my Aunt Dixie who is here from California, then attend our Elder's quorum Halloween party! and Sunday, I want to survive~ just simply survive!

Toe-Toe Lee Random

Did I say I wasn't going to try and play catch up? Well, you know me better than that! I am! So here's a bunch of photos of some of the things that almost went post-less! And there are still this many more (at least!) that did!

BACK TO SCHOOL 2009!

McKay ↑

Taylor ↓

It felt really strange taking the traditional first day of school photo with only TWO boys! :(

That's because Bryce decided to go off to college and abandon his mom! Who gave him permission to grow up anyway??? NOT ME...that's for sure!!!

He is attending Utah State University on scholarship. My oldest son Skyler, is also attending USU but he is not fan of his mom taking pictures of where he is living! Or taking pictures of HIM for that matter!

Me, Bryce, and McKay in the dive apartment where he lives.

Father and son...

Bros outside his dive apartment...

Now this↓ kid has the right idea!!! No growing up please! I told him he will NEVER be too big to sit on my lap and he took it at face (lap) value! I am sooooooooo glad he did! As long as I'm living my baby you'll be...

Somewhere, somehow, sometime, THIS ↓ one decided he could turn 16 on me and be old enough to date!!! NO!!!

He got asked to Sadies (his first real date) by a very darling girl.

A girl after my own style... hehe!

The "day date"....

The dance....

Aren't they just so cute?!!!

Dinner with great friends!

We ate at Iggy's and since there was a big game on that night, we strategically placed the men facing the big screen.

Looks like Janzen ↓ ordered some kind of happy drink!

We girls ↓ are happy because we had dessert....or did we? It's been so long I can't remember, but I am pretty sure we wouldn't all be looking so giddy if we had skipped the chocolate.

Trying to decide on a silly pose...

This is the best we could come up with. Maybe we didn't ingest that chocolate after-all!

You know FOOTBALL season is in full gear when you see me in here:

Working in the high school concession stand. I got quite the workout. It was wall to wall (four lines deep!) customers for nearly the entire game!

McKay and Taylor both played football again this year. Having only two play was much easier than three! McKay played little league and Taylor played on the high school team. Taylor played Sophomore but also gets to suit up with Varsity because he is A-mazing! He is having an awesome season! He is playing both ways and making all kinds of sacks, strips, tackles, blitzes, and even a 60 yard touchdown! It is so fun to watch him! McKay's season hasn't been as prosperous. But even though his scores don't show it, they are an awesome bunch of boys!

Because we spend so much time watching THIS ↑

We spent our 27th Anniversary like THIS ↓

Yep at one of Taylor's football games. But I'm not complaining. I love to watch his games anytime. We did go out to dinner after even though we walked in the restaurant at 9:48 p.m. and they closed at 10 p.m.

27 years? It can NOT be possible! It was just yesterday I was picking out my wedding dress! Thanks hon for a fabulous 27 years! ♥

Peach Days Fun!

Having a light sabre war with Janzen. I am pretty sure I won!

Look who I found at Peach Days! Yep, my BFF and chocolate sista - Jaida!!! I so LOVE this girl!!! She went and moved on me and so now I don't get to see her very often!

How I spent my summer vacation!

Yep pretty much. I'm just glad I didn't fall off the ladder. Then I would've spent my vacation in jail for murdering Dave for not hiring someone else to do this!

Lunch ~ Lunch ~ and MORE Lunch!

Bonnie, Mona, and me eating out at a yummy Mexican place. I love these women! And NO, I am not heavy with child! This shirt just makes me look like it! Or maybe I just ate too much!!!

Eating out again and at the same place! But different days I swear - maybe THAT'S why I wore that preggo top above!!!

This time with the Relief Society Presidency I served with about four years ago. I am sure you can see by the look in our eyes that we had a LOT of fun in this calling! Oh the stories I could tell. Still when we get together, we laugh so hard reminiscing that the tears can't be stopped. This time I almost needed a Depends because I almost wet my pants!!! Good times, good laughs, good women!!!

This is another Relief Society Presidency I served with about 15 years ago! We have tried to get together for lunch off and on over the years. What an incredible bunch of women. They all taught me so much!

We went to Maddox! YUM!

Lunch with a few of my old (and I do mean OLD! heehee) high school pals! Nah, we will never be old because we laugh way too much when we get together! We went to TGI Fridays.

They teased me that I wasn't wearing purple and so I tinted this photo to prove them wrong!

Barbara, me, Carla, and Bonzo. We have such good laughs together! We've all reconnected on Facebook and it has been so fun. We had five others that weren't able to make it that we also reconnected with on FB.

OUT TO DINNER with the fam (the shrinking fam!) sniff- sniff...

Taylor couldn't stay awake. ↓ Football is kicking his hiney! He is always so beat!

Look what I found! Well I wish! He is our friend's pup that got lost on the mountain and so we got to tend him for a bit while they tried to find his mom. What a cutie!!! I think he kinda liked me too.

I REALLY NEED one of these!!!

Stake Mutual Social at the Girl's Home
Lynda, me, and Steph

I didn't take enough pictures of this event to really make this blog worthy, but just the one below made it worth it.↓

Check out Dave's face! I had NO idea he saw us at this point. Then I heard him ask me what we were taking a picture of. Steph hurried and snapped it and then we took off running! Guess if he reads my blog, now he'll know! Bwhahahaha!!!

That's all folks! At least FOR NOW!!!
