Orange You Glad For Sweet Things?

I had a wonderful Grandma (Mae) who used to make the most delicious orange rolls. Hers were more of a go with dinner type without a lot of gooey frosting, but I have always remembered how scrumptious they were and as a result I've always had a passion for orange rolls.

I found a great recipe for them and now get many requests from my boys to make these frequently. Luckily they are very easy and not super time consuming.

I was going to do this Pioneer Woman style, but I got a little caught up in the process and forgot to take more pictures. Here are a few with the recipe at the bottom.

 ORANGE ROLLS
In a bowl, whisk:
1 cup warm millk
2 beaten eggs
1 stick melted butter
1 cup warm water
2 tsp salt
2/3 cup sugar
2 Tbl quick yeast

*Add 6 to 8 cups of bread flour gradually, scraping bowl, until smooth and springy.
*Knead 5 minutes. Put a little oil in the bowl and put the dough in then flop over to cover dough wtih oil.
*Cover in Saran Wrap and let raise until double in size (about an hour).
*Punch down, Tuck dough under and get out the wrinkles.
*Roll out in a rectangle about 18" x 22" (1/4 " thick)
*Smear with a stick of softened butter.
*Zest 3 large oranges and chop fine then add one cup sugar to zest. DO not leave out this step. Fresh oranges are best.
*Sprinkle dough with zest/sugar mix and cinnamon.
*Roll up in a log. Pinch end to seal. Cut with floss into 12-18 rolls.
*Place on a jelly roll pan and let raise for 1/2 hour.
*Bake at 350° for 16-18 minutes.

Frosting:4 oz. cream cheese softened
1/4 cup butter softened
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup milk
2 Tbl orange juice (squeezed from zested oranges)

ENJOY!!!!

ORANGE you glad you read this? =)
