*Monday Memos*

(If pictures are too small, just click to enlarge -if print is too small, you need glasses! ☺)

dear sister's fling, when Karen and I realized it had been three years since our last Sister's Fling, we immediately threw one together!  We came up with a theme (50's) and just kind of winged it.  Julie was going to be in town and so we had limited time to plan it, but it came off a hit!  This started as a tradition many years ago.  We were pretty good to do it each year, but then life kind of happened and it ended up being pretty irregular.  I need to go find some old pictures of past ones and post them too because we had some REALLY good ones and REALLY well planned ones.  I used to write a poem for the invitation each year and we went all out.  One year we did a Gilligan's Island theme.  One year it was Robin Hood.  We have a scrapbook at one of our homes that no one seems to know where it is.  We need to find it and then I could post some great pictures! I'm missing a ton of pictures and so I am going to be doing a separate post on it, which will be HERE (when I get the photos!)

We had a serious BLAST from the PAST!

We started off at Boondocks for some stylish bowling.  I have some more fun pix to add to the separate post on this, but I won't have them for a week.  Fun times!
We were missing Becki, Tori, and Mom (and several nieces) this year.  They had other obligations and couldn't make it.

These are the mini-mini hamburgers I made.  I usually make them with a regular sized Vanilla Wafers and Peppermint Pattie, but these I made with mini Vanilla Wafers and Junior Mints. They turned out so adorable!  They tasted pretty great too. Nothing like a good burger to chow down on.

We tried and tried and tried to get just ONE good jumping shot where we were all actually jumping at the same time.  As you can see, it took a million shots!  I added so many of them because they make me smile when I look at our faces and expressions in our various timing of jumping.  Cracks me up!
 Nope....still not quite!
Even the little ones were able to get it right off the bat!  Us...not so much.
 FINALLY!  SUCCESS!!!
And then AGAIN...success!  Now, THAT is worth jumping for joy for!

Goofing off before the talent show...

Performing our talent (or lack therof) ☺
We represent the Lollipop Guild↑

Then we ♪Rocked Around the Clock♫... (yes, we are multi-talented)

The much anticipated Talent Show.  If America's Got Talent had caught wind of this, they would have been right there with their cameras.

Carolyn's and Britt's rendition of "You're the One That I Want" 75 Years Later, brought down the house.

Sweet eats and rockin' it with our Soda Pop.

It really was a blast from the past!  We loved being silly and going around in our outfits (especially when it embarrasses the teens!).  hehe The talent show is always the highlight of the night and this year was no exception.  I am so blessed to have such amazing sister-in-laws.  I call them my REAL sisters since I was never blessed with real ones, but truthfully, they are as real as it gets! More pix to come HERE when I get them!

dear twigs at twelve on the twelfth on the train, we have decided to just do a set lunch at a set time each month.  We decided on the second Tuesday every month and whoever can go, can go.  This time it ended up being at Twigs on Tuesday the Twelfth at Twelve on the 'Twain'.

We met in Roy to ride the Front Runner to Farmington Station.

No idea...  ↓ lol

We couldn't resist a photo on the tracks. Brought back memories from the Witch adventure! We are lucky we didn't get in "twouble".

Once we arrived at Farmington Station, we started walking to Twigs, but I got a little distracted by the Roxberry and I made us all go in and check out the purple stools! We found Dr. Roxberry and asked him to join us for the photo.  He was happy to oblige.

We ate lunch at TWIGS and it was Tweffic!
We got our photo taken at TWO angles - in keeping with the "tw" of the day. =)

Dawn and I continued to celebrate our birthdays and got FREE dessert!  Don't worry we shared with everyone!  It was A M A Z I N G!

After lunch we headed on over to Charming Charlies.  Oh my, soooo many photo opps in that place!  So, of course, we took advantage!

I gathered hats and told everyone to find some shades. PHOTO SHOOT TIME!!!  Then I found some seriously high steppers and even though I had two different sizes on, I used them for the photo shoot.  I actually really liked being that tall!  Kind of fun!
Tourists or Runway models?  Or Run-Away models?
No I think it's more a bunch of GlamMa's!
Whatever we were, we were stylin'...

Next stop, IT'SUGAR store! It was also loaded with 'tweats' and photo opps.  We had so much fun with the large props.
When Jody started to strum her's like a guitar, I totally lost it.  I thought I was going to need a clean up on Isle two.  Or a quick stop to Chicos for some new pants!
So much fun!
The picture on the right is us on the train.  We don't know who the stalker is.  lol

We had some serious fun!  Dawn and I went into Home Goods (my FAVE store!) while the others went into Gordmans and I found the most awesome purple Halloween decors!  Poison bottles!  And a cute spider web basket.  I talked Dawn into buying one too!  Now we will have to have a Halloween party so we can be "twinners"!  But when we came out the others had started walking to catch the train.  We were afraid we were going to miss it and started to haul it.  Poor Dawn looked like she was having a stroke...HEAT stroke to be exact!  It was soooooo hot and the racing to catch up didn't help.  Luckily, we didn't miss it and even had to wait for 20 minutes for it to arrive and she was able to catch her breath and rest a bit.

Once we got on, we couldn't find any seats for all of us and so we shared with a guy on his laptop.  He just politely listened to our stories and when we got talking about Linda's little slip up comment at the reunion, he actually laughed out loud!  It was hilarious!  I have no idea what he was thinking of us, but he was a riot!

Twigs at Twelve on the Twelfth on the Twain, was Tweffic!  We always seems to find lots of ways to entertain ourselves!  My philosophy in life is that you can never get enough laughter in your life and so if you find a chance to laugh, then grab it by the reins and laugh until you cry (or need to change your pants!!) ☺ 'Twas so much fun!

dear first run since injury, I made it 8 miles!  I was so happy I was able to get in those miles with relatively little pain!

dear 8 miler in country, I went out the next day to run another 8, on my route out west in the country in case I had to limp or look like an injured animal.  It felt great and my back was okay!  Yippee! I really wanted to go 10, but felt like that may be pushing it too soon.  I went down a different road and was a little worried for a bit when I saw some of the houses.  One was made of tin and had no windows or doors, but it did have a light inside.  So crazy when just a block away was a very expensive home.  You just never know what you will find in the country!
In the middle photo there is a cornstalk all by itself on the other side of the road.  There aren't any others anywhere near it.  I thought how odd that is that it would grow there and wondered how that happened.  I thought how all it takes is a single seed to grow and somehow that seed made it over there and decided to just bloom where it was planted even though it was really out of place and probably not in the best environment in order to flourish.  But it overcame the odds and DID flourish. Just like we can if we choose to.  I find so many analogies while I'm out running.  There is always something I learn.

dear new bike! Yay!  I am so excited that you arrived!  I did a little test run on you and found you to be great. I am a little worried about the comfort of the seat though.  But, hopefully that is something I will get used to.

I took you out for my first ride complete with helmet!  I am not used to riding with a helmet, but I know it's a must.  I forgot how much I loved riding bikes!  I haven't rode too many in the past several years and it was a lot of fun.  I was fine cardio wise, but Holy Hannah, I was getting saddle sore!  I really need more padding on that seat!  I only made it 8 miles because of that.  Hopefully I will get used to it soon!  I am excited to have something now for cross training!

dear mr. cat, you always entertain, that is for sure!

dear grandma mae's house!  Sometimes when I am in the hood, I will take a little detour so I can drive by my Grandma Mae's house. I spent a lot of time there as a kid growing up.  In fact, we even lived there for a while when we moved back from Reno.  It is the house where my mom grew up.  I am not sure why I enjoy driving by because it has pretty much gone to pot.  It doesn't look anything like it did before and has not been well kept up.  None of the homes in that neighborhood have.  Pretty sad.  I remember she had an all pink bathroom.  Pink sink, pink toilet, and pink bathtub.  I used to stay there with her in the summer after my Grandpa Ed passed away.  I loved her so much.  She was a little spitfire and just made me laugh.  I think I am a lot like her in so many ways.   I have so many memories of this house and my childhood here.  The tree in front was there when I was a kid and I have a picture of me hanging from one of the branches on it...something that I always used to do.

This ↓ is the same tree branch, but I am facing the other direction.  I am with my brother Jerry in this picture.  Nice midriff!
Here is a shot of the house when they lived in it.

I am with my Mom and brother Jerry in this photo. I think that is my cousin Angie opening the door.

I kept finding photos of that house.  This is me with my cousin Shelley's majorette stuff.  She was majorette at Bonneville High School at the time and I idolized her and wanted to be just like her.  I grew up to be the majorette there as well. ☺ She even gave me that hat to wear when I was, though I never performed in it.

dear family reunion, as long as I'm throwing back, I decided to add these pix that I found as well.  This is in Jackson Hole at the Bar J.  I am not sure on the year exactly but I'm guessing around 2006 or 2007.  Going to the cabin and to Bar J has always been a family tradition each summer as well.  We had to miss the family reunion this week because Dave was on call and McKay had his season opener football game. I almost went by myself, but my back wasn't in the mood to sit for 3.5 hours and drive it and I would have only been able to stay less than 24 hours because I wasn't going to miss his game.

Love this...

I am not sure where Sky was, just that he was off selling in some other state for the summer.

dear first football game of the season and the last season of high school football for me...makes me want to cry!  I can NOT believe my baby is going to be a senior!  I dreaded this for so long, but now it's here.  I should have had five more!  (just kidding - kind of).  It was the Purple and White game where they just play against each other, but it is always a good game.  McKay had a really good game. He got some great tackles in.  His form is better this year and he is much faster.  My parents were able to come and watch too.

This ↓ is our friends the Parson's little grandson with my Mom.  He is a cutie!  Oh my, he had me laughing so hard.  Made me so grand-baby hungry!  He loves McKay!  He calls him BaKay and always asks his mom if he can go to Pooks (Coops) and play with BaKay.  His mom told him I was BaKay's mom and he just starred at me like I was some very important person.  It was so cute.  I got him loaded on Hot Tamales and then sent him home. Kind of like a grandma would do.  I'm just practicing.  ☺

The team gathered after their first game.  The first real game is next week. I am excited for the season to start, but also sad knowing it is my VERY LAST ONE FOREVER!  So, so sad....

dear 20 mile run, I MADE IT!  I was so happy I was able to pull it off!  After how my back has felt this week and last, I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be able to do it.  What a relief I have that in the books.  I am so behind on my miles for the marathon (over 100 behind) but this gave me the confidence I needed - I hope.  We picked up Robin and Linda at 6:00 a.m. and Dave took us up to Sherwood Hills to the golf course and we ran down the canyon AFTER running UP Airplane Hill!  We did the hill without stopping once and we were super proud of ourselves!  This was Robin's longest run EVER and Linda's longest in about 7 years.  They did so great!  Grant (Robin's husband) ran up the canyon and met us just before Mantua.  He went around the dam with us and then headed home. He has an injured knee and so didn't want to do as many miles as we were.  Then we went in the campground and came down Sardine.  I was feeling great the whole time.  Well, great is relative on a long run.  hah Our legs were getting tired in the campground but the downhill after really helped.  I separated from them at mile 17 because I needed to do 20 and they were only going 18.  I headed down west and then had McKay come and pick me up. I didn't want to run back up! What a slacker I know!  I was just grateful I was able to do it at all.  I was so happy!
I love these women.  It's so nice to have great people to run with.

I also found THREE pennies in the canyon.  THREE!  What are the odds of that?  Pretty miniscule!
I was happy with my time too.  It wasn't a PR, but it was respectable and I was quite surprised it wasn't a lot slower considering...

dear back to school shopping, as soon as I got home from my 20 miler, I showered and headed school shopping for McKay.  Bryce came along with us and I was so grateful for that so we could spend some time together.  He needed to get his phone repaired. We went to Ogden and hit the mall and then ate at Panda Express (McKay's most favorite place to eat on the planet!) and then we decided to hit the Layton Mall as well.  We were just talking about my brother's family and then the next thing we knew we ran into Allie at Pac Sun!  What are the odds?  We went into another store where my nieces were so we could say hi to them.  Pretty fun!  Then we ran into Linda and her family!  We had just ran 20 miles together that morning and then I run into her in Layton!  So crazy!  I didn't get a picture of her dang it, but I did of her son Justin and daughter Devin.
We hit Krispy Kreme on the way home and I was beat!  My legs were so tired!  I am sure I added another 20 to them while shopping.  We didn't get home until after 7:00 pm!  Longest school shopping ever.  My boys are usually in - out - and done!  It was fun to spend the time with them. I also realized this is the very LAST time I will take my boys back to school shopping!  Waaaa!!!!

dear manic manican, you were for sale again this week!  I don't think anyone took you home though.  I'm sure one of these days some one will see you and realize they have finally found their soul mate. ☺

dear sunday school class,
since I had a coupon at Krispy Kreme, you lucked out and got the pay off!  I tried to tie it in with the lesson and maybe I was really stretching it, but it worked!  haha

Looks like you are having LOTS of fun.
Love your new bike...Biking pants really help. The extra padding really helps.
I have pink bathroom fixtures at my current home. They were here when we moved in and we have just left them.
Good job on your runs. Loved this post.

I did have more than enough fun this week. Oh wait, that is NOT possible! haha

Yeah, I am so mad that I didn't buy some padded biking shorts when I was in TJMaxx the other day. I didn't have a bike at the time and even though I knew I needed to get one, I put them back. Now I am kicking myself because they were such a great deal! I rode it this week on a 15 miler and luckily it wasn't quite as bad as that first ride!

Oh wow Nancy- I would love to see your pink bathroom fixtures!
