Good Things Utah Visit

Yesterday was a fun and full day. I was excited that I had the opportunity to go with a group I belong to (Utah Homemakers) to be in the audience of one of Utah's most popular television shows Good Things Utah. It was a great experience and a lot of fun. The show is filmed live and it was very interesting to see how that was done. The last time I was in a live audience was on a field trip with a couple of my boys to KSL's Weather School on channel five. This was similar, but I was amazed how relaxed all involved were. I guess when it is something you do everyday, it would tend to get that way. It was an interesting day to be there because all of the regular hosts were there, which is pretty rare according to the announcer Mike McKay, and because we got to see:

Swim suit fashion show...(yes women it IS swimsuit season already!....groan...) A scallop recipe...(no, it didnt impress me, but no seafood would!) And we got to meet the new SLC Mayor Beckert.
The best part was the free Jamba Juice smoothies they gave the audience as we watched. They were yummy!

Here are a few photos from the day...

This is the set where it is filmed. It is much smaller than it looks on TV.
Me, Shannon, and Karen waiting for it to start.
This is most of our group sitting on the very hard bleachers. They did give us seat pads to sit on thank goodness. There are two sides of bleachers, but it is not a very big area. We were shown on TV at least three times, according to the text messages some of us were getting while there! Did any of you see us???

Mike McKay, the announcer welcoming us to the show and telling us how things are run.

The four hosts...Nicea, Angie, Marti, and Reagan. We got to see Nicea walking in the building without her make-up on. She looks, well...um... just like the rest of us without her paint!

Our group taking a picture with the hosts.

Karen and I were having a little too much fun. We are sitting behind the news cast desk acting like total cRaZeeS! That is a big mic I am holding. We are pretending to be the journalists for what we thought would be a great photo. The jury is still out on that one!

The newscast room.

Me, Mike McKay, and Karen.

After the show, we all went to lunch at the Macaroni Grill. Mmmm...........

After lunch I went with another carpool group that invited me to go to IKEA with them. I was excited because I haven't been there yet! It was HUGE... but a lot of fun!
Fun Day!

How cool that you got to go! I have always wanted to be in the audience. And isn't IKEA the best? I love that store.

Looks like such a fun time. (No, sorry we don't get it here in Canada ; ) I'm glad you had such a fun time.

I have seen lots of advertisements for IKEA but have never been there either--maybe next time I come to the U.S. (There are stores here in Canada, but none in Manitoba)

Very cute pictures! That was so fun. How did you like IKEA? It is a fun store but kind of overwhelming if you don't have tons of time. I will email you some of those pics. Will you send some to me if you get chance? thanks! shan_jones20@yahoo.com
