Serenity Sunday ~ We Believe

This weekend is the 178th General Conference for our church. What that means is we get to sleep in, don't have to rush to get everyone out the door and to church on time, no frantic search for shoes, can hang out in our sweats or pj's all day, don't have to attend any meetings, get to watch church on TV while eating treats, and all this without feeling one bit guilty!!!

But that's not why I love General Conference. What I love about it is the great opportunity it provides to hear from our living prophet and apostles live on television that only comes twice a year. The talks are always so inspiring and motivating. Plus we always traditionally eat German Oven Pancakes between sessions! Yummmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeee! (the recipe is posted below)

If you want to listen to any of the talks go here!!! They were all outstanding but my favorites so far were Elder Uchtdorf's who spoke on hope, Elder Holland's who spoke about angels, Elder Wirthlin's who spoke on adversity, {Come What May and Love It!!!} and Elder Bednar's who spoke about prayer.
Or go to this link to choose individual talks.

Here's a little video clip for your listening enjoyment with a great song titled We Believe

Recipe for German Oven Pancakes:

1 c. milk
2/3 c. flour
2 T. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. grated lemon (optional)
1/2 tsp. cardamon (optional)

Combine in blender. Put a 1/4 square of butter in pie pan; melt. Pour in batter. Bake at 400° for 35 minutes. Serve with fruit, syrup, and whipped cream.

Oh these are just so de-lish I wish you could reach through the screen and taste!

We add lots of yummy fruit! Fresh peaches, strawberries, black berries, raspberries, and bananas......mmmm...mmmm.mmmm!

They are supposed to puff up above the sides of the pan...but for some reason this one didn't get to high.

We like Orange Suzette Sauce (syrup) and then lots of whipped cream on top!
Is your mouth watering yet????
Try it! And.....enjoy!!!!
Have a serene Sunday....

I will have to try those. I don't think my kids will eat the fruit, but I THINK they look wonderful. Thanks for the links! Watching conference on computer is a little different. Thanks for the thoughts!!!

Don't you just love not going to church every 6 months. I don't put on clothes, do my hair, makeup, and I generallyl subsist in yucky grubbiness the whole two days. I love it. And yes...I like the conference thing too, but you know what I mean.....I'm just sayin'. And I don't do that much to keep busy while I'm at church. So it's actually a vacation...from a not too busy life anyway.

Somebody stop me.......

Yum, those look beautiful and scrumptious! :D

I REALLY loved Conference. It helped me to change my heart and mind about some things! My daughter and son-in-law spent the entire day at our house watching it with us, then my son and daughter-in-law joined us all at dinner time and we stuffed our faces with turkey and all the trimmings...it just doesn't get better than that for this mom! :)

I also love that song! I once taught it to a group of young women to sing for a special stake event! :)

Looks really yummy! It was a great day, full of hope and perspective that I needed after all this economy, political stuff that's been on all our minds. That's what I love about the gospel, the peace it brings in the midst of our troubled world. We watched two sessions of conference on our computer upstairs and I was amazed at the quality! Pretty cool!

I didn't get to hear any of conference, but now that I'm home will read the talks.

(For those of us who don't get it on TV, we still get to get up, scurry like crazy to get to Church on time--but it's so worth it ; )
