I Made the Paper...yikes!

We got an early phone call from my mom this morning informing us that I was in the newspaper. Those words can be a little un-nerving. Well, okay, A LOT un-nerving! But thankfully I was half expecting to be.

Dave went and retrieved the paper off the porch and sure enough, there I was.

Before I taught my class on Blogging, I received a telephone call from a reporter from one of the local newspapers wanting to interview me about my class. I gave her an interview over the phone and she informed me she would be attending my class because she wanted to do a story on it. I was rather surprised to say the least. And a little nervous, I might add. It's not like I am some Blogging expert after all! I titled the class Blogging For Dummies for a reason...mainly because the teacher is a Dummie too!

The day of the forum I saw her slip in my class after it had started. I knew it was her because she had a big camera and took several photos. That's usually tends to be a give away. She left before it was completely over and so I didn't get a chance to meet her face to face. I watched for the article to appear over the next few days and when it didn't, I just figured it wouldn't be run due to other non-important happenings they were obliged to print like the election, world peace, natural disasters, etc. You know, those stories that take up so much page space crowding out the real important stuff like blogging.

But alas, I was wrong. Even though I taught the class almost two and half weeks ago, it still surfaced. I was extremely surprised to see I received an entire article to myself! I thought it would be inserted in another article with maybe two or three sentences mentioned...if that!

When I opened the section up and saw a ginormous spread and an even more GINORMOUS picture, I was a wee bit shocked - (okay more like a ginormous bit shocked!) Had I known that my photo was going to be enlarged 200 trillion times, I would have had it retouched or something! I really HATE that photo!

I am pretty sure it was NO coincidence that the ad directly below my face is one advertising FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY! Groan....

But I guess that's the price you pay for your 15 minutes of fame. Maybe the surgical center will see it and offer me a deal since I gave them free advertising (even if it was only the before shot!) There's always hope!

Here's the article...sorry for all the blackouts, but she used my last name a brazillion times!

You will have to click on it to be able to read it.

BLOG ON!
The only correction I would make is the sentence where she wrote, "I really wish I had something like this when I was raising my five sons." It should read, "I really wish I had something like this when I was a young mother with five small sons." I am after all STILL raising my sons! I may need a facial rejuvenation, but I'm not THAT old! ☺

Trust me girl...YOU don't need ANY plastic surgery! It will be good advertising for them only because you are what the AFTER should look like!

Congrats! I hope my mom cuts the article out of the paper and sends it to me. She is usually really good about that.

P.S. I would love all the info that you give your students. I truly am the dummie trying to blog.

Shauna, Raigon, and Sandy---

Most of what I taught you ALREADY know since you already have a blog! (not sure you do Sandy) But it was mostly getting started and set up. You could have all taught the class too. It was pretty basic stuff.
