Academic All State & Basketball Tryouts

Bryce made the Football

ACADEMIC ALL STATE TEAM!!!
I know it embarrasses them when I do these poster things, but too bad!
Sorry, but as a mother I have bragging rights! I am so proud of him! This is a very elite, prestigious, and VERY tough to get honor! He is ONE of only SIX boys in our entire region that received this award. And one of only 84 in the entire state.
It was announced in the Newspaper last week.
Academic All-State Teams are determined by their grade point averages and are selected by the UHSAA. Bryce has a 4.0 GPA.

He will be honored at the state football championship game during half time on Friday at the University of Utah! I'll post about that later!

WOOT-WOOT Bryce!!!!

Freshman Basketball TRYOUTS
(still claiming those bragging rights!)

Taylor has always loved basketball. Not quite as much as football, but almost! He has always been a great player and has played on many teams throughout the years. He wanted to tryout for the Freshman team this year and so we encouraged him to do so. Besides, what was I going to do with all my spare time now that the football season is over? Ah-hem...

Being the mother that I am, I had to go watch! There were only a handful of us there watching and it was intense. The competition was really tough and it was each man for himself. They had 28 tryout for 12 spots. That doesn't sound like much, but when you have 28 REALLY good players, it is nail biting!

They cut eight players after the first night of tryouts. I was sweating it until he called from school and informed us he made the first cut. Whew! So what do I do? Yep, I showed up to watch the second night of tryouts. Who needs nails anyway! There were a few more parents there that night. Dave was off and so he went too. The coaches informed the boys that eight more would be cut and it was either do or die that night! To go from 20 talented players to only 12 was going to be tough on the coaches.

He did really well and Dave was confident he had it in the bag. I'm not really that basketball savy and so I was just HOPING he did.

HE MADE IT!!!
I was so excited for him. He was pretty happy too. The best part was, most of the guys from his comp team also made it. They have been playing together for years and so that will make for an easier transition.

The only part of it he isn't real thrilled about are the 5:30 a.m. practices. Actually, I take that back, he hasn't complained about that once. It's just been the parents that GET to get up and drive him there that are complaining! BUT....he did get his driver's learners permit last week, unfortunately he can't drive alone yet!Woot-woot Taylor!

Your boys are awesome! You SHOULD be proud and we as mothers are allowed all the BRAGGING rights we want! We deserve to brag!

The AAS is an amazing honor! Bryce is an outstanding kid.

I agree with Kelsee. You don't have to "claim" those rights...they come with the territory! BRAG ON!
