New Calling

I have been in the Young Women's program in my church as a Mia Maid advisor (ages 14 & 15) for the past two and a half years. They have been the best two years of my life as far as callings go! Oh wait...I am supposed to say that about my mission years, but since I didn't serve one of those, this was hands down the best two years! This calling came at a time when I really needed those girls. All along I have felt this calling was more for me, than me being there for them. I have been amazed at how uplifted I always feel whenever I am in their presence. They just have something about them that I need, especially during that hard time in my life.

At girl's camp this last month, I mentioned to the Bishop while bearing my testimony in our testimony meeting that I didn't want to EVER be released from Young Womens. I guess he was probably chuckling a little under his breath because he already knew what was coming.

A couple weeks ago he called me in his office and called me to be our ward's new Young Women President. Gulp! I have to say even though deep down I already had a confirmation this was coming, I was still feeling extremely overwhelmed and inadequate. I was sustained and set apart yesterday and I was hoping that would bring some relief, but I am still feeling an enormous weight on my shoulders and a huge responsibility for those 30 + girls. I have called great counselors and I know that once I feel like things are organized some of that will lift. I hope... But, I am just so blasted happy that I am STILL with the girls that I love so much!

The women I have had the privilege of working with these past couple of years were beyond incredible. Most of them are my dearest friends as well. I will REALLY miss working with them. Luckily a few of them are going to stay in.

The amazing women I worked with.
Top: Bonnie, Jenny, Kristy, Loraine, Marilyn, Audrey
Bottom: Jen, Tammy, Me
This is me and McKenzie and Loraine. We were the Three Blonde Musketeers Mia Maid Advisors!Did I mention we had a lot of fun together???
BTW~ Congrats Kenzie! She's having her little baby boy today!

If any of you have any words of wisdom for me, I would be most grateful!!! I can use all the help I can get! I guess if all else fails...I can always remember that!

The best part of the whole thing is.... as the mother of all sons, I always wanted to know what it would be like to have a daughter, and now I have 30!!!

You know how I said whoever gets Marilyn's job has big shoes to fill? Well, you'll fill them just fine! You'll do so good and I know the girls will be so happy you're still in there with them. You have the funnest ideas and can pull together anything. You have great women you're working with and I wish I was one of them!

I honestly was very worried about the person who had to follow Marilyn, but when your name was announced, I felt an immediate calming peace. It was like, oh yeah, that is exactly who should be the new president! Congrats! You will do a terrific job, especially with your great counselors! The girls already love you!

Jodi,
I have been reading your blog for a couple of months and I love it!! So fun! Karen Cox gave my your blog address...I feel like I've been spying on you! Anyway, I was just released last Sunday from being the Young Womens President in my ward for the past three years. Absolutely hands down the best three years I've ever spent in a calling. It's so much work, and hard sometimes, but nothing in the world is more rewarding. You will love it. You already love your girls and the rest just falls into place!! I am actually jealout, well kinda, because I am still shedding lots of tears and missing my 30 girls!! What an adjustment!! I just love the youth, they are so full of hope and so much fun. I couldn't think of anyone better than you to be a YW President. You will do awesome!!

HI Jodi! To change your header, just go into paint, you can add a picture, then just make it the way you want it. Save it as a picture, then in when you want to change your header, go into where it says change header, or something like that (my brain is on slow-mo.) It's where you can see the layout, that's it.:O) Click on header, browse through the pictures, then add whatever one you want, click save. There you have it. I'm sorry if this is gumbled. If you need step-by-step I will be more than happy to help with pictures and all. Hugs and happy editing.-Tiff

You will do a great job, jodi. I have always enjoyed my years in Young Women--working with the girls is such a spiritual experience.

I agree with lucy--you don't need any advice from me.
