Prepare to be Uplifted

My good friend Becky sent me an email that included this amazing story of Team Hoyt. It is such an inspirational story and so touching that I wanted to share it with all of you. Prepare to be uplifted and inspired!Rick Hoyt was born with the cord wrapped around his neck. The doctors said to put him in an institution and forget about him, as he would be a vegetable. His parents disagreed and brought him home to raise him. At age 12, they had a computer built so he could finally communicate. At age 15 he asked his dad if he could run in a 5-mile race to help a paralyzed athlete. "Dad, I want to show him that life goes on even when you're paralyzed, I want to run in the race." His dad Dick was not a runner, but said yes. They came in next to last. That night when Rick got on his computer he said, "Dad, when we ran I felt like my disability disappeared." Those words were all the inspiration his dad needed and which became the beginning of hundreds of races, including triathlons and even Iron Mans. Watch these video clips and be inspired! We can all do a little bit to brighten someone else's world.

During a long run, I ran past the billboard on the highway and got all choked up. I've heard the story a few times and it hits close to home.

Such great love and commitment. It never ceases to amaze me what running can do for anyone. I've seen these clips before and each time it's so inspiring of what can be done when moved by love. And Iron Mans...that's so far beyond what I can even imagine ever accomplishing. What an awesome dad!
